Update: A thank you to the Schooner Foundation for generously doubling gifts until July 31. But we still need YOUR support. Help the Investigative Fund continue to influence public debate on issues from immigration to Afghanistan by contributing today!
This has been one of the most exciting years on record for The Investigative Fund. Not only did we break stories that had real world results (a Congressional investigation into how the Pentagon funds the Taliban, indictments for a police murder in New Orleans, coverage of our work on CNN and in The New York Times), we also took home major journalism prizes doing it. Articles we produced won a Daniel Pearl Award for Outstanding International Investigative Reporting, a James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism, the Investigative Reporters & Editors magazine award, and the Mirror Award, for starters. And we continue to commission groundbreaking stories, reported with integrity by some of the country’s most hard-working independent journalists.
Yet this has been our toughest year financially. Foundations committed to our work have been forced to trim their grants; major individual donors have had to reduce their giving. That’s why, last week, we started sending out emails updating readers on our most exciting projects and asking for your help.
If you believe in investigative reporting, and you like what you see at our site, please take a moment to give. A healthy democracy needs tough-minded investigative journalism, and The Investigative Fund is doing its part. Make a contribution today and be a part of this important investigative work.
