Why are hundreds of migrants dying each year as they attempt to cross the US-Mexico border? When Central American immigrants head north, many go through Brooks County, Texas to avoid immigration checkpoints. Facing rough terrain and sweltering temperatures, many don’t survive the 40 mile trek — hundreds of migrants have lost their lives in the past two years.
