Muriel Alarcón

Muriel Alarcón is a Chilean journalist working as a freelance reporter from Santiago, Chile, and is a Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Journalism School. She is a regular contributor for El Mercurio and La Segunda, two of Chilean’s major newspapers. She holds a master of arts degree, focused on science and health, from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In recent years, she was a fellow for the Global Migration Project at Columbia Journalism Investigations and reported on Latino communities in New York City as a grantee of Fundación Gabo. Currently, she is a Pulitzer Center 2023 Climate Science Reporting Fellow and Joan Konner Program in the Journalism of Ideas Fellow at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
